Statement From Chairman Kevin P. McCabe Regarding March 18th County Convention

Mar 11, 2020

EDISON — The following is a statement from Middlesex County Democratic Organization Chairman Kevin P. McCabe regarding the MCDO’s March 18th Convention:

“The Middlesex County Democratic Organization had originally scheduled our convention for Wednesday, March 18th, at the Middlesex County College. We have spoken to many leaders throughout the county and, in an effort to follow best practices during the COVID-19 pandemic, we will be changing the in-person convention to a tele-town hall on Wednesday, March 18th, beginning at 6:30 PM.

“While we are disappointed that we will not be gathering in person during this critically important time, we have made this decision in order to protect the health and safety of our community.

“In accordance with the By-Laws of the MCDO, Secretary Elsie Foster-Dublin previously placed a notice soliciting for consideration any person wishing to seek the endorsement of the Organization for the June 2 Primary Election for U.S. Congress, County Clerk and Board of Chosen Freeholders. Due to the fact that there is no contest for the support of the Organization for these offices and in order to avoid unnecessary large gatherings, I am taking executive action to convene this year’s convention via tele-town hall.

“County Committee members will receive instructions on how to register for the town hall later today. County Committee members will also participate in an advisory vote for the organization’s endorsement for President and U.S. Senate during the Tele Town Hall Convention next week.”
